Defining Church
Church can simply be defined as the following three things. Without one of them you are not a church.
The Three
Tithe
- You need resource to provide for the Levites.
- There has to be a cost for the flock that puts the Lord first in their provision.
A social club
- Never forsake gathering with one another.
- Where 2 or 3 are gathered, there I am.
- When you gather, always do this (break bread).
A spiritual encounter with Jesus.
- To have the mind of Christ, you must understand his ways.
- Something supernatural needs to happen. The blood must be applied on the sheep.
This can be described in the following sentence:
Shepherds guiding sheep into fresh pastures.
We look at each of these areas as the core pillars within your church. We assess where opportunity is to grow based on this.
- Growth is tied to strengthening these three pillars.
The mission of the church is the facilitate the great commission.
- The church has to make disciples
- The church has to teach disciples how to make disciples
- Your church has to be on mission to see your city saved. If that is not the first goal of your church, you will see a lack of health in the above pillars.
- This is the motivation for your people.
